Case study
As Principal Investigator, I led a £143,000 Innovate UK / DSIT Cyber Local programme designed around barriers faced by career-changers, underrepresented groups and SME staff. It combined three in-person cohorts with an e-learning platform, coached labs, mentoring support and an AI-supported learner-help feature.
Thirty participants were trained. Reusable teaching assets and the e-learning platform were retained for repeat CPD use. Learner feedback indicated increased confidence and clearer interest in certification and entry-level cyber pathways.
Responsible AI workforce
I led development of the North East Responsible AI Workforce Accelerator, a 60-credit Level 7 professional-practice PGCert focused on AI safety, security, governance and responsible deployment, with employer-defined AI challenges, professional projects, work-integrated learning and placements.
Digital Safety CIC supports placements; CyberNorth and Digital Safety engage SMEs and companies; NEBRC supports employer engagement and placement identification. The model connects AI capability with responsible organisational practice.
